Allen Kelly’s Profile

A smart man once said to me “take your obsession and make it your profession and you will never work a day in your life”. Well I did just that and although it still seems like work It sure beats some of the past jobs I have had.

I took up competitive golf relatively late in life but as my Grandfather was a Pro way back when; it seemed that when I got serious I had a knack for it. Talent alone will not make you a good golfer, I think it was David Toms that said “hard work will beat talent every time”.

I turned pro and set off about North and South America playing golf and teaching, a lot of mini tours, a lot of miles and a lot of fast food.

I got better and I loved it. I found that my teaching style was appreciated and understood.

I had visited Singapore many times and when I decided to work here it was one of my best decisions ever. This is where I met my wife and our daughter was born.

I spent about 2 years coaching in Brunei Darussalam, at the spectacular Empire Hotel, but we all missed Singapore.

So now we are back and happy,coaching is now full time and playing part time, not the way I want it but the ball won’t go in the hole fast enough to pay the rent! I play in Thailand, Malaysia, India and have recently spent a month in Fiji playing their major tours there.

I have visited Myrtle Beach South Carolina for the last 10 years and played not only the Myrtle Beach Masters but also the Tarheel tour in North Carolina. I have 3 Myrtle Beach masters titles.
